After all of the excitement of August/September, I knew October was going to be a lock in and focus kind of month. I wasn’t expecting it to be high-energy. I wanted to focus on my relationships and my coursework, and that’s what I did.
This month I said yes to laying the groundwork for 2027 and the kind of energy I want to bring next year. Success is about the preparation. I think 2026 has been a year of preparation. I am putting systems, habits, and routines in place as life begins to transition and move on from this wilderness.
Yes to putting events on a calendar for 2027
I have avoided putting events on the calendar because I fear disappointment, but I have to let go of this mindset. When I get booked and busy, I’ll plan in advance, and if I can’t make it or something happens, we’ll work with it.
Not putting events on the calendar guarantees not much will happen. My new mindset is SCREW DISAPPOINTMENT. It’s better to have something on the calendar than not, because if it’s not on the calendar, I can guarantee it won’t happen.
Yes to seeing a friend I have not seen since before COVID
This year has been about reconnection. I need my starters around me as I start this new season of life. I need people I love, trust, and who keep me grounded. I understand why we were separated during this wilderness season. The wilderness is a place of growth, maturity, and development, and it can take all your energy to just survive.
I had a chance to see one of my best friends, whom I have not seen since COVID. She was here in the Bay Area, and our reunion was wonderful. It felt like the early aughts again.
I need my real friends; I need these deep connections, and I need to be open to new connections. I’ve become isolated these last few years, and it’s time to change it.
Yes to GOING WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE IN 2027
One phrase I have heard over and over again in 2026 is “Change your environment.”
I think I have done a good job of changing my internal environment, and now it is time to change my external environment.
I listened to a story about how someone met their partner, and I thought, “That will never happen here, and in my current life. I don’t even meet people who I want to have lunch with.”
Then I started thinking:
“Well, it’s not going to happen here because the people are not here. You gotta go where the people are!”
So, in 2027, I am going where the people are.
I will meet people I want to have lunch with.
I will meet people whom I will invite past my front door.
I think the people are here in the Bay Area. I just haven’t met them because I am not where the people are. So, even in the Bay, I am going where the people are.
Yes, to buying tickets for Calvin Harris because I have wanted to see him for TEN Years.
Back when I was teaching fitness classes, Calvin Harris songs were a staple. I even traveled to Vegas in 2015 hoping to see him at Omnia, but we ended up leaving. I vowed that if he ever came to the Bay for a concert, I’d go because I love his music.
When he announced his North American tour, I knew I was going. He’s doing three days at the Oakland Coliseum next May, and I got tickets! Hopefully this goes better than what happened with EWF and Lionel Richie.
I’m learning to let go of my scarcity and limiting mindset. I am going to this concert because I really like Calvin Harris, and I don’t care that he’s a DJ who will just be pressing play. I saw David Guetta DJ at XS in Vegas, and it was great. It’s the music that counts.
I am so out of touch because I did not know how bad the ticket-buying process is now with Ticketmaster.
Any Presidential candidate who promises to ban bots and reform the ticket-buying process has my vote.
Yes, to keeping things private and moving in silence.
It’s been a long time since I’ve put my heart into my endeavors, and I can sense change is imminent. For that reason, it’s important to move in silence.
One of the 48 Laws of Power is to avoid the unhappy and unlucky. It’s especially important not to share your life or become too familiar with the unhappy and unlucky, because they cause confusion and view life through a jaded lens. It’s also important to recognize that unhappy and unlucky do not mean poor or unsuccessful by material standards. People with money and all the trappings of a great life can also be unhappy and unlucky. They walk around with a heaviness and a glum spirit. They also tend to be joyless, humorless scolds who make passive-aggressive comments.
It’s important to move in silence and not share with people who
- Will not be along for the next step of the journey
- Will only speak negativity and doubt
- Will only render judgment.
Yes to asking if this makes my life bigger
One of my major complaints in the last few years is that my life has become too small. It was stifling, confining, and I hated it.
In less than one year, my life has expanded so much, and it still doesn’t feel like I’ve even gotten started. My vision has started to take shape. This year has been the warm-up to a bigger life, and that’s why 2027 will be the year of exposure and visibility
