Before any new beginning, we need to clear the way and make room for the new. To embrace the new, we have to let go of the old.
During this Fall Acceleration, I’ve been thinking about what I need to let go of, and I am going to let go of the toxic mindset that is running on a loop in my brain.
- I squandered my potential
- Completely missed my chance
- My best days are behind me, and this is all there is.
I am beginning to think the very opposite is true.
- What if I am in the right place at the right time?
- What if I am on assignment with what I am doing now
- What if there is hidden work going on behind the scenes?
There, but for the grace of God….
There, but for the grace of God, I haven’t shipwrecked my life.
Even though I don’t like where my life is now, I haven’t done permanent damage to my life or anyone else’s.
There are worse things that could have happened:
- I never married someone I did not respect or want
- I don’t have children I resent
- I didn’t tie myself financially to anything that would keep me tethered.
This year is hitting different
Reconnecting
I’ve had this intention to join and form a great team, and I realize the first team I’m assembling is my own. A lot of pruning has been going on in my life. I think COVID was a wilderness season for many people. We settled for relationships with people because of convenience and proximity, or we gave up altogether and became withdrawn.
Something is shifting now where people are saying, “We want connection again, and we want it with people we enjoy and want to be around. We don’t just want relationships with people because it is convenient or they are the only people available.”
This year I have had amazing reconnections with people I love and want in my life forever. Let me tell you something: when you’re with your real ones, you’ll realize why surface-level, shallow relationships aren’t it.
Reawakening
This year, I have had a reawakening of long-dormant ideas I thought were gone with the wind. The last ten years have felt like the dry desert where everything went to die.
Now I know those ideas weren’t gone. They were seeds buried in the ground, needing nurturing and cultivation.
Reigniting
The fire within has been reignited. My soul has been lit on fire by creativity, determination, and a belief that says, “It’s now or never. It’s happening.”
Right now, the fire is a spark, but it’s growing by the week. Right now, I am putting in the work and gaining clarity on the vision and what I need to do to make it happen.
Alignment
If you had asked me last year, then I would have told you that I was ready for the next chapter of my life to begin because I was sick to death of the current one.
That answer would have confirmed one thing: I was definitely not ready for the next chapter.
I needed to get back into alignment with myself and my vision before I could move on to the next chapter, or I would risk settling or self-sabotaging it.
The vision is slowly coming into focus. I already have 2027’s theme, and events are already going on the calendar
I’m still churchy tho…
I have spent the last two years in particular berating myself for not pursuing a better career, making more money, and setting myself up for an upwardly mobile life. Instead, I have had to settle for this monotonous life where I feel stuck, trapped, and bored out of my mind.
I am smart, and I am talented. Anything I could have accomplished in my own power would have been ordinary. It would have been boring, and there is no story to tell. “Of course, she has a great job and all the normal things people have when they have a great job. It’s what is expected.”
I don’t think I’m built for ordinary. I don’t like ordinary. The God I believe in does the EXTRAordinary, the supernatural, the miraculous.
That is why I never understand people of faith who don’t take risks. If you can do it with your own power and intellect, then it won’t take faith, and you don’t trust God. Why are you giving God the glory for something you did? Then of course when it falls apart, you can blame the devil.
I’ve always enjoyed the (true) testimonies from people who were prompted by the Holy Spirit to do something completely against conventional wisdom, and then something unbelievable happens. They actually trust the God they say they believe in. They don’t just use God as a means to feel superior to others.
My suspicion is that God is doing hidden work on my behalf, and I just don’t know about it yet, because if I did, I’d try to get involved and make a mess of things. Right now, the move in my life seems to be to mind my business, nurture my relationships, go to the gym, drink my protein shakes, do my job, do my coursework, and sit down somewhere.
I’ll send you out with my benediction
Ephesians 3:20
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
