September felt like a turning point month.
All year, I have been thinking about September. It felt like a threshold.
My theme was Let’s Groove Through September. I thought I’d see Earth, Wind, and Fire and Lionel Richie on the 26th night of September, but it was postponed again because Lionel Richie needed a medical procedure. It’s now canceled, and we’re getting our money back.
I tried.
That’s what I’m learning: Sometimes you just need the courage to try. It may work out or it may not.
September was a trip.
All year, I have complained because I thought I would be saying yes to more exciting events and adventures. Honestly, it’s becoming increasingly obvious why that hasn’t happened.
I am not ready.
I’m still coming back to life after my stint in the wilderness Sadlands. Too much stimulation, and I would be running for the hills or attacking people.
For now, I am coming back slowly but surely. I’ve wanted to wait to do things until life has changed and I’ve moved on, but the word has been to do it now because I’ll be ready when we cross over. This entire year has been preparing for this crossover season.
I said YES to a lot in September, and honestly, much of it is coming full circle, and it feels like another massive change. I talked to one of my best friends, and we both agreed it feels like a previous season of our lives, when everything changed in two years.
This is why I have to prepare to cross over. I am in for a major change.
Some days, I’ll wish life were dull, boring, and monotonous again, but it won’t come without a fight.
The journey begins with Yes.
Yes , to seeing Samara Joy in concert
I saw Samara Joy on an awards show years ago, and when I heard her speak I said, “That girl can sing.” She sure can. She can sing like we’re in church one minute, scat like Ella the next minute, sing soprano a little later, and give you the blues as a finale.
She sang at Davies Symphony Hall, and the place needed livening up. Someone shouted, “Sing it, Girl!” A man in front of me couldn’t keep his seat. He kept jumping up.She sang a song Billie Holiday never got to record, “Left Alone.”
Will I meet you before I die?
Will my life pass me by?When she sang these words, I was ready to hit the floor. During the concert, I felt a gnawing in my core. I believe my soul came alive again after so long being dormant and closed off. These are important days for me.
Yes, to the Writing that Resonates class, which is what I really wanted to take. It reignited something in me.
I originally planned to take another course, but this one ended up being the right one. In class, we talked about things I learned twenty years ago. My goal for this class is to be exposed to literature I wouldn’t read on my own.
I excitedly told a friend about it. It reawakened, reignited, and reinvigorated something in me.
Dare I say it, I think I am right on time for the next step of the journey.
Yes, to pushing myself harder than I have in a long time
You can read about the entire prep season on the blog, but that final Friday was my exclamation point on the sixteen-week journey. Up for fasted cardio before 5 AM, with seven clients booked.
It was a turning point, and proof that I have changed.
Yes, to Joining Team Delusional
I have some very wild ideas.
Wild Wild Thoughts isn’t just a song by Rihanna.
It’s the title of one of my journals.
If you’re going to be successful, then you have to be somewhat delusional. This year I’ve confirmed with myself that I believe I can do it, so 2027…
Wild, Wild thoughts will become wild, wild adventures.
Besides, I need something to write about.
Nobody wants to read about a dull, boring, bland, mayonnaise life.
Yes, not waiting until life changes to make upgrades
I am ready to move on to the next chapter of my life, and I have done so in my head. Life is just catching up.
I waited until life changed to get back into certain grooves, but why wait? Do it now. I am creative, and I tend to show it through my personal appearance. I don’t need to wait until I’m more visible and in the right environments to start being more creative with my appearance. Plus, I need to practice and experiment, so when it’s time to head out, I’m ready!
Yes, going to another neighborhood Night Market
These photos are from August. I think our neighborhood is too boring, and a Samoan group organized a night market, so I wanted to support them. Since this is my home and I am not going anywhere anytime soon, I want more events like this, so I went last month and again this month. It was a great chance to support neighborhood and small businesses.
Yes to the Journey ahead
This is a crossover season
It’s not coming with a fight.
I am locking in and stepping on the gas
This is how I fight my battles
She won’t back down
The wicked flee when no one pursues them, But the righteous are as bold as a lion.
