Fate Test Wins

This could have been better, and I will keep these on for 2026!

Fate test 1: Say yes to something you normally would not

I am reading Bobby Brown’s autobiography, and I would not have read it except for the book club. HOWEVER, people were making magic back in those days.  That is something we’re missing these days.

Never Been There, Never Done That: Exposure at the Symphony

Went to the symphony last night and it was nice. I don’t like the second piece but other than that, it was great to do something different! I enjoyed the exposure to classical music. I do think I enjoy musical theater more, but I do like classical music.

Fate test 2: show up early or late to somewhere you are supposed to be

This was an accident: the Lyft Driver dropped me off at the wrong theater. I realized it at about 7:35, and my show started at 7:30. Luckily, it was a minute walk. I was in my seat by 7:37 and didn’t miss a thing.

Perhaps the lesson in this is that we may be in the incorrect place, but we just need a course correction. We fear we are late, but we are right on time and haven’t missed a thing.

Fate test 1: Say yes to something you normally would not

I was back at Davies Symphony Hall to hear Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. I do like that symphony, in particular the Spring section. Going to the symphony forced me to get out of the house and talk to

If you keep moving in the right direction, then you will get there eventually. – Rick Sehr, Yoga Instructor

For the first time in a long time, I feel like I am moving. Now, whether I am moving in the right direction remains to be seen, but I am moving toward something that I can’t see yet. There is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. I won’t always be stuck, and change is on the horizon.

Depressive symptoms have much improved.

I have been taking St. John’s Wort since August, and I believe it has been helpful, along with restarting my Vitamin D intake. Reconnecting with others has greatly improved my mood. Talking to my peers has been so refreshing because I haven’t had that in so long, and I miss it so much. Even rediscovering the “fitness bros “has been helpful. Changing my environment and reconnecting with others to rebuild my personal life is at the top of the list.

Rooted and Flowing

“I am rooted, but I flow.” – Virginia Woolf

When life has moved in the right direction, I have been in a flow state. I characterize that as just moving through life, going with the flow, not trying to force anything. I feel that same energy returning, and when I am in a flow state, opportunities begin to present themselves. As the legendary writer, Virginia Woolf said, the secret is to be rooted. I am grounded in what I know to be true, and that is that I don’t deserve the short stick.

Take some Risks in 2026!!

My goal in 2026 is to take some significant risks. It’s time to go out on a limb. For the last several years, I have been in the land of mayonnaise. Just dull, bland, and no spice. It’s time for a dangerous yes to shake things up. We never know that one risk could be a complete game-changer, changing the course of my life. One yes could mean meeting my destiny.

Some sound advice from James Clear’s newsletter about risk.

“The best type of risks to take are ones where (1) the worst outcome is manageable and (2) the best outcome is life-changing.

Think: Asking someone on a date. Or, investing an amount of money you can afford to lose into a business with high upside.

Look for opportunities where it won’t kill you if it goes poorly, but you’d be blown away if it goes well.”

Strategize!

As we move into December, the theme will be: strategize. I am not moving the same way in 2026. I already feel different. The theme for this Fall Push was Release, and I have embodied that theme. I have released much of what has been holding me back, and I have been released for the next era.

Of course, I will be chronicling it right here. This is not a journey I am taking alone!
