This past weekend I went to a dinner and stayed away from obvious non compliant foods such as: Chocolate cake, Lumpia (which I love),  Tamales, etc.  However I did find out a frittata dish did have some hard Italian cheese in it later on down the line.

Was I upset?  No.

There was a time when eating something “off plan” would have been cause for concern and beating myself up for not being perfect.

I have learned that there is no perfect.  I know on the Whole30 it says you have to start all over if you have something non compliant but that’s not what I’m doing.  I am not INTENTIONALLY eating things that are non compliant and I found out afterwards.

Such is life.

This time around on the Whole30 I am a lot less stressed which means I am not stressed at all.  There are certain things I do miss…like my Sunday Morning Protein Waffles, Nutrition shake, Turkey Bacon, and of course my Maple Walnut Blondie Brownies I have on Sundays.  However I am not FEENIN’ for them (Old school Jodeci reference)

The best thing I’ve tried this week was Chili Lime Seasoning from Trader Joes with Mango.  SO GOOD!

Yaaaas for Mango with Chili Lime Seasoning!

I know that I can have them when I am done with this and that’s it.

I have decided that after this round, I’m going to stick with 5 days eating the paleo style and on the weekends let up a little with the protein waffles and treats.  Keep in mind it’s not a free for all on the weekends but I’ll have sushi, pho, etc.

In other news a pair of pants that was not going over my behind is now over the hump and *this * close to buttoning.  I have faith that by spring I will be back into my pants!! YAYYY!!

Workouts

Still doing Hammer and Chisel 2-3 mornings a week.  I’m barely through the second row but I am determined to finish!

I want to say something about Home Workouts:  While they are a nice change and I use them as “fasted cardio” during this time period, I am going to intentionally mix up my workouts this year so that it doesn’t become stale and boring.

I went to the gym today and it was great.  It was fun to be around other people and to also have access to more equipment.  I like the home workouts and the gym.  I think home workouts can complement the gym and vice versa.

The Home Workouts are giving me some new stuff to try and I do like having someone else come up with the workouts.

It’s funny I don’t work out for very long anymore.  It’s about 30-60 minutes tops.  There are several reasons for this.

1.As a business owner, I am busier these days so I do not have time to lolly gag at the gym.

2. I’m older and breaking myself down to the point where I can’t walk for several days on a regular basis can lead to joint wear and tear and also injury.

3. Too much working out is not good on your hormonal system.  Yes I know most people do not move enough but there’s another extreme which can really impair your thyroid and adrenal system.  Less can be more.

4. Nutrition is key.  I know that now.  I worked out less and lost nearly 10 pounds.

5. There is no excitement at the gym motivating me to stay longer…

So there you have it!  We head into the final week next week!  Kinda glad Whole30 is over Super Bowl Sunday.  We’ve got Crab Dip, Quesadillas, and some Chips and Salsa on the menu.  Not to mention my Maple Brownies!! YAY!!
