It’s the midst of December and I’m still eating Whole30 80%.  I do have a free day on Sunday and it’s great.

Since The Whole 30…

  • I have a much more regular eating routine.  I eat 3 Meals Per Day and a Nutritional Shake.  It’s so much better than Eating every 3 hours or eat 6 meals a day.
  • I stopped using sugar or any artificial sweeteners in my coffee or tea.  I use Raw Honey in my tea.
  • I stick with a high protein breakfast.  I’ve had oatmeal on the weekend maybe twice since finishing The Whole30
  • I cook more regularly and I also make soups regularly which work well for a busy week and also when the weather is cold!
  • Some of my pants have started fitting again!  Yep!  I’m not all the way back but some pants that weren’t fitting back in September are fitting again…so yay!

What happened over Thanksgiving?

I weighed myself before Thanksgiving and then again after Thanksgiving.  Last year I gained 5 pounds and they didn’t go away.

This year….I gained ZERO pounds over the Holiday. ZERO

I ate Macaroni and Cheese, Dressing, Peach Cobbler, and Ice Cream but I gained ZERO pounds.   This is a big win because it shows my body is metabolizing food properly and burning it more efficiently.

I will also say that I did not have this urge to binge and EAT ALL THE THINGS just because it was a Holiday weekend and I gave myself a free for all.  In previous years, I would find myself making lists of places that were normally off limits and making sure to hit all of them.

I stuck to my normal meals and I enjoyed some Chinese takeout from one of my favorite places along with some Thanksgiving leftovers but it was back to my normal schedule Monday.

I didn’t leave the Holiday feeling bloated and terrible.

So what now….

Now I will continue on my Modified Whole30 plan.  I’m drinking a little Whole Milk in my coffee (still no sweetener) and I’ve had Jasmine Rice.  I’ve been reading a book about healing the Metabolism and which foods support healthy metabolism and while grains are not especially encouraged Jasmine Rice was on the list for being okay and Whole Milk was encouraged.

I’m ready to Keep on Keeping on with the Whole 30 style of eating.  I am not anxious or stressed about food this year.  I plan to keep on my normal eating schedule of 3 Meals per day.  When Christmas comes around I will be enjoying it and I will be baking.  No biggie.

I traditionally take off my “diet” during the week between Christmas and New Years.  I will be doing it a little differently this year.

My Guidelines are

  • 3 Meals Per Day (Dessert is included in the Meals)
  • No Free for alls or Endless Snacking
  • Only Eat what I want and not eat it because it’s there or forbidden
