Week 10 of Sheltering In Place here in the City By the Bay.

I feel the need to inform everyone of how many weeks we’ve been sheltering in place because we need to congratulate ourselves for making it through 10 weeks of having our lives completely upended by unforseen and truly unprecedented circumstances.

This is a historic event that most in this generation have not seen before and that’s why I believe we need to be gracious with ourselves.

My Grandma shared that this reminded her of wartime lived through World War 2 and so I thought that was remarkable. I also hope this is the closest we get to that experience!

Push Past it

Funny Story: “PUUUUSH!” someone at the gym yelled at me

I was confused but he told me that he used to take my spin class back in the day and he reminded me that is what I would always scream at the class as I encouraged them to push through the tough parts.

My theme for this month is to Push Past it…and do it anyway.

I’ll be honest with you: I’m having a hard time some days getting motivated to do anything.  I’m frustrated, impatient, and ready to get on with it but that’s not happening.

This is reality right now and we have to roll with it.

For me it means pushing past my feelings and doing it anyway.

  • Moving instead of watching more TV
  • Eating Healthier Foods and drinking water instead of going for the potato chips and other junk foods
  • Enjoying Zoom because it’s better than nothing and not pressing the leave meeting button when people get on my nerves
  • Then Pressing the Leave Meeting Button instead of making faces and making snippy remarks.
  • Being Grateful about being alive, fed, and having my health instead of Grumbling and Complaining about not leading my normal life.

Acknowledge Feelings but don’t live by them

We must acknowledge our feelings but we don’t have to live by them.

At some point we can acknowledge how we feel and choose to do the hard or inconvenient thing. That’s how we mature and that’s how we build up confidence.

One More Salad is one more win

One more glass of water is one more win

One more walk is one more win

One more day of saying Thank You is one more win

One more day of making it through the lines at the grocery store is one more win!

One more day of talking to your friends to encourage you is one one more win

Keep piling up those wins and it makes it easier to push past it and do it anyway.

None of us know how long this will last and it is an ever evolving situation. The best we can do is get our minds right in how we respond.

We can push past it and do it anyway.
