The One Thing I will be doing in October to Live Better is doing The Whole 30 Program. I have been reading the book, “It Starts With Food” and I am a believer that the majority of health problems originate with what we eat.
I want 2016 to be my healthiest year yet and so that means making sure my nutrition promotes a high functioning and balanced hormonal system.
I am still paying for my failed competition bid from 2014 and I do know that hormones are at the root of my problems whether it is hormones that regulate hunger and or how my body processes calories.
I highly recommend the Book “It Starts with Food”. It doesn’t promote calorie counting or any of that but has you become your own case study for which foods may not promote the best hormonal responses.
THIS IS NOT A DIET
THIS IS NOT ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS
IT’S ABOUT BEING MY HEALTHIEST SELF
What is the Whole 30
The Whole 30 is a Nutrition plan that eliminates several foods that have been shown to promote chronic inflammation and digestive issues.
Foods that Are Eliminated
Refined Sugars, No Artificial Sweeteners, honey, or molasses
Seed Oils (Grapeseed, Canola Oil, Safflower Oil,Flax Oil)
Legumes (Beans, Peanuts, Lentils, etc)
Dairy
Grains
Foods I will be enjoying
Meat
Eggs
Seafood
Fruits
Vegetables
Isn’t this a Restrictive Diet and aren’t you against restrictive dieting
Great question. This is not about restricting food for the purposes of weight loss but rather eliminating sugars and other foods that have been shown to contribute to chronic inflammation.
I am still against restrictive dieting and with this nutrition plan, I will not be counting calories, weighing or measuring foods, or any of that. Instead I will be eating 3 Regular meals a day and going from there.
I’m still against dieting. I am not doing this for the purposes of weight loss. I’m sure I will lose weight but that’s not my primary focus.
What about if you can’t do it for six months…
I still believe this. I am doing this for holistic reasons and also to learn about my body and gain some new habits from having to prepare and eat all whole foods for 30 days.

Whole 30 in January
The Whole 30 will be part of my curriculum in The Start Strong Challenge that I am launching in January. This group is for 10 Motivated people who want to see real change in their lives in 2017. This group is not simply designed for health/fitness goals but to transform your life!
I think this will be a great test run for the program and also a chance for me as a coach to see what obstacles people may run into.
