The science says:  NOBODY KNOWS.  There’s no conclusive evidence on whether or not it’s better to eat or fast when sick.

My philosophy is that you need to listen to YOUR body’s signals.  When I am sick and I have an appetite, I prefer to eat soups like Won Ton, Hot and Sour Soup, or pho.  I also make sure to drink plenty of Green Tea and Honey along with warm Lemon Water.  Of course a lot of folks believe that hot water, lemon, honey, and Jack Daniels will cure everything.  I know it knocks you out…so there’s that.

What to Avoid

You should avoid eating too much sugar which can be inflammatory and suppress the immune system. You should also avoid canned soups that are filled with sodium.  Chicken soup is good but not the kind that’s overly processed and basically sodium in a a can!
