Women continue to shatter barriers in these Olympic Games

Kimia Alizadeh became the FIRST Iranian Woman to win an Olympic Medal.

She won a Bronze Medal in the 57kg division for Taekwondo

The 18 year old athlete is SO excited to be the first to have won a medal for her country and she believes this is just the beginning!

“I am so happy for Iranian girls because it is the first medal and I hope at the next Olympics we will get a God.  I am very excited and I want to thank my parents and my coach.  They really stand behind me and I am so happy.”

Young Muslim women on the rise…

Young Muslim Women are on the rise in Taekwando because it is easier for them to compete in the conservative dress and wearing a Hijab is not an issue.

It is awesome to see athletes who are young Muslim Women!  As barriers keep on coming down, I look for more women to get involved in sports and be all that they can be!
