Greatest Celebration of Life Ever!

“Wow that was the best funeral I’ve ever been too.  It was so much fun!”

“Wasn’t it great?  I had a great time!”

That’s not typically how you describe a funeral but such was the case a few months ago.

It really was a celebration of life as family members told funny stories, we did a crossword puzzle, and we even sang The Golden Girls theme song!

It was over 3 hours and people didn’t leave.  People were still talking about what a great time they had days later.

Why did that happen?

The woman who passed away was a great example of A life well lived.  She did incredible things throughout her life, broke down barriers, and overcame challenges.  She was truly an inspiration and one of my heroes.

What’s your why?

After that I thought to myself, “That’s how I want to go out.  I want my family and friends to celebrate my life and to have a great time.”

So my personal Why comes down to two things:

  • I don’t want to have regrets for memories so I must challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone
  • At the end of my life I want to hear: Well done good and faithful servant.  I want to use every resource I’ve been given.  I don’t want to waste my life.

My Why keeps me moving forward even when I’m afraid.
My Why reminds me that even when I’m uncomfortable, that taking a risk is better than remaining stagnant.

So this week I encourage you to think about your WHY.

If you want to get healthier, this is much better than a weight loss goal.  If you want to: play with your grandkids, save on healthcare costs, or even be able to enjoy a vacation then your why will inspire you to make healthier choices.
