Watch Your Words

A few years ago I heard one of the best messages of my entire life.

The speaker, Joseph Garlington said: “If you don’t like the way your life is going, then it is time to say something different.”

Many of us put ourselves down on a daily basis.  We say things like:

“I’m so stupid”
“I’m a hot mess”
“I’m fat.”
“I’m ugly”
“It never works out”

You get the picture.  Constantly putting ourselves down will never help us make positive change.  We must begin to be mindful of what we say because I do believe we will eventually see what we say..

We must be intentional about building ourselves up with our words.

Making Intentional and Conscious change means changing how you speak about yourself and your life.

Change your Environment

The second part to intentional and conscious change is to change your environment and the biggest tip I have for this is to:
Watch who you are hanging around.

Ditch the Pitiful Petes and Pathetic Pams.  Some people refer to these folks as energy vampires but I don’t like to give them that much credit.

Pitiful Petes and Pathetic Pams tend to congregate in groups.  Sometimes you may not realize that you are involved with a Pitiful Pete and Pathetic Pam group because  they say the right things and they are even doing the right things.

Don’t go by what they are saying or what they are doing.  Look at behavior and also look beneath the surface.  Often times you’ll realize that something just isn’t right.

Environments that thrive on drama, immature behavior, and dysfunction are not conducive to growth.

Instead of hanging out with Pitiful Petes and Pathetic Pams, get around those who are excellent.  Be around people who you want to be like.

Get around people will give you wise counsel and tell you the truth.  Pitiful Petes and Pathetic Pams will watch you flounder and walk off the cliff because they don’t want to see anyone doing better than they are.

I have made it a practice whether professionally or personally to seek out those who are world class and excellent because Just by being around these people I know I am growing and getting better due to their positive influence and also taking on some of their best practices.
This week watch your words and begin to evaluate your environment!
