This summer I was presented with an opportunity and my first instinct was to say, “No.”

I had a lot of excuses:

I didn’t know how since I didn’t grow up doing it
I was too afraid.  What if I said the wrong thing?  What if I wasn’t any good?
I don’t sound like everyone else.

I realized all of these were nothing more than excuses so I ended up telling the person yes.  What was even funnier is that I wasn’t supposed  to do this endeavor alone but due to technical difficulties, my first two times I did the whole thing alone.  LOL!

Talk about being baptized by fire!!  I said “Well there went all of my excuses about, ‘I can’t'”.

I could and I did. All of my excuses went out of the window.

Erase and Replace

In other areas of my life, I make excuses.  I say things like:

It hasn’t happened yet so it won’t happen
It’s too late.  Time has passed me by
Too much time and too much work when I could place that toward other endeavors where I have a higher chance of being successful.
I don’t know how

When I start to make these types of excuses, I have to erase and then replace my Excuses with new stories.

Nothing happens until it does.  I wasn’t self employed until I became self employed.

I’m not too old. I’m the right age.  Time has developed and matured me to be able to accept what I need to do.

I know what type of life I want to live and it’s not one that’s self-centered and focused on achievement and material success.
