That time I had Popcorn for Dinner….

When I gave up dieting for good, one of the actions I embraced was eating what I wanted and when I Wanted…even if it was kinda strange.

Geneen Roth calls it, “Humming foods”. What food is humming to you?

I was out of town at a conference and nothing was really humming to me…except the popcorn.

Hear me out on this. I do love popcorn and my absolute favorite is Popsecret Homestyle and that’s the kind I normally have. I hadn’t had popcorn in a long time and the only thing humming to me at the arena.

My travelmates were kinda horrified that I chose popcorn to eat for dinner but I was on cloud 9 and was satisfied for the rest of the evening.

Do I eat Popcorn for dinner on a regular basis? No. It just so happened that was what happened that day.

Totally Off Kilter

We were in Fresno, CA at a conference and no shade to Central California but there aren’t that many awesome dining options. Fried food, chain restaurants, and not a lot of fresh vegetables to be had like in the Bay Area where I am from.

I brought Protein Bars and Nuts because I knew that could happen but I just rolled with it.

Listen when we go out of town, we tend to eat differently at home. I know that my lifestyle mainly consists of fresh food, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and so forth, If there’s a random weekend with fish and chips, potatoes and cheese, and popcorn for dinner…Fine.

When I got home on Sunday I had my Flax Flakes and blueberries for lunch because I craved fiber. One of the best things I have learned on my journey breaking free from dieting, is that when you trust your body it will tell you what it needs.

On Monday I wanted Green Juice, Salad, and nuts so that is what I had.

What about the workouts?

Since I went out of town, I only managed to get in two workouts. I can remember a time when that would have produced major anxiety for me but now it’s like, “Well I’ll get back on track next week and start again.”

What has produced the change?

Honestly the WHY of working out: It used to be about looking a certain way or not feeling like I was good enough. Now it’s all about enhancing my life, keeping my youthful vibe through movement, and eliminating my mental limits.

Being Free from Restrictive Dieting and overexercising has allowed me to focus on the actual important things of life!!
