Most Personal Trainers and “Health Coaches” will tell you it’s because:

  • you’re too lazy

  • Too Busy

  • you don’t want it bad enough

  • you don’t have enough willpower

  • you eat too much

  • you move too little

  • you need to start taking whatever pill and potion they are selling

Are there grains of truth in any of the above reasons listed?  Sure there are but this isn’t the reason why the majority of people cannot lose weight.

(A better term is losing body fat. Losing weight implies losing muscle mass which is counterproductive)

The main reason people cannot lose body fat is because their lifestyle and mindset does not support them to do so.

People are:

  • Dealing with emotional trauma and using food and/or alcohol as a coping mechanism

  • Over scheduled, eating fast food, not getting enough sleep, and chronically stressed

  • Constantly going on diets and restricting themselves which are affecting their hormonal levels

  • Starving themselves throughout the day, excessively snacking, and then overeating at night

  • Using Social Media and Television as a distraction/escape leaving no time for to develop a system to facilitate a healthy lifestyle

  • Trying to do it all alone without supportive community and allow “THE VOICE” to take over and remind them that they are failure and will fail yet again.

  • Defeated and figure nothing works so they give up

Going on yet another starve yourself/exercise yourself to death program isn’t going to give you long-term sustainable success.

Restricting yourself with rigid diets and food rules will also backfire. I’ve been there and know “the next great diet” doesn’t work long term.

What works?

  • Addressing mindset, deeper issues, and lifestyle habits that are not conducive to a healthy lifestyle

  • Developing a PERSONALIZED system for nutrition/movement that works FOR YOU

  • Ongoing Accountability with a coach or group

  • Community to know that you’re not alone

This isn’t your standard Personal Trainer/Health Coach talk but the industry standard doesn’t work.

Diets have a 5% success rate and our society is getting more obese and unhealthier by the year. What we are doing is clearly not working and so it’s time to say something different.

The Clients I work with who are following this approach see much more long-term success than those who are constantly yo-yo dieting.
