Which Diet is the Best?

Keto, Vegan*, Whole30, Raw food, Macrobiotic, Low Carb, No Carb, High Carb, Low Protein, High Protein are some of the current diet trends and back in the day diets were: Grapefruit, Cabbage Soup, Coffee and Cigarettes, Hot Fudge Sundae, and someone even said they tried a Fried Chicken Diet.

Every few years new diet trends make their way into the market and fills women with the hope that. “THIS is the DIET that will FINALLY help me lose weight and change my life,”

I say women because that is who I see most impacted by these fads although a lot of men struggle with yo-yo dieting as well.

Any of the above diets will work and give you results — short term.

As soon as you stop, then you’ll pile on the weight (plus some) due to lowered hormone levels and metabolic rate.

*Disclaimer:  I know some people may have an issue with putting vegan on the list.  For some being vegan is a lifestyle and ethical choice and I salute that 100%

However, I’ve seen a trend where numerous people decide to become vegans to lose weight and they become, “garbage pail vegans”  eating a bunch of processed food.

There is no Best Diet for everyone

Every BODY is different.  Everyone processes food differently and so it is ludicrous to believe that there is ONE BEST DIET to lose body fat.

To Everything is a season…

This means that you will have to find what works for you as an individual.  You also don’t have to stick with ONE type of eating plan. Everything has seasons including your nutrition.

I know a man who decided not to eat any meat for a year and that worked for him.  I know some people who have decided a plant based lifestyle works best for their digestion and their love for animals.  Other people have gone through serious illness and need more protein to rebuild muscle mass so a higher protein and high fat works for them.

I will do a Whole30 Reset if I feel I’ve gotten carried away with the sugar or my body feels like it needs a reset.  I’ve also been known to go more plant based in the Summer/Fall.

But I need to lose weight….

The way to lose body fat is not to go on another diet.

The way to lose body fat and keep it off  is to: eat when you are hungry, learn to trust yourself, begin to develop your system of healthy lifestyle habits, be consistent with those lifestyle habits, Understand that it’s not about the food, and silence “The Voice” of negative self talk.

If you still want me to talk about diets, then I’ll leave you with this: Diets have a 95% failure rate.

This means even if I write you a meal plan, you have a 5% success rate.
