The challenge is complete!!

5-6 Days of Lifting is a LOT and it was a great challenge but that can be hard on the joints so this next month I am taking off to recover by focusing on rest, flexibility, and improving my cardio conditioning.  That means more treadmill workouts are in my future!

I was really proud of my progress with this challenge.  It was nice to see my numbers go up on Squats and some of the upper body exercises. I also felt like my recovery was so much better than the 60 Day Transformation.

During that challenge I was constantly sore, tired, and some days were a

S-T-R-U-G-G-L-E but even though I was sore some days on this challenge, it wasn’t nearly as bad as it was during that first round of training

Varying workouts

My training philosophy with my clients or myself is INTEGRATION.  Meaning:  We work on different aspects of our fitness levels and training just like athletes.

During the first few months of the year I worked on Strength and now I’m shifting to Cardio Conditioning and Flexibility.

If there was one thing I learned during my Failed Fitness Competition days, then it was that there is too much of a good thing and only focusing on lifting weights and cardio will leave you injured and burned out.

I had known this already but I was all in on the competition stuff.

When I went to lectures by people who trained athletes, they all talked about how they had their clients focus on balance, flexibility, recovery, strength, conditioning, plyometrics, and all of this was in addition to their sport specific training.

This is a way to prevent overuse injury and also boredom!

What’s next

Next up is a focus on

  • Flexibility – Must lengthen after all of that strengthen training
  • Mobility – Need the proper range of motion as well
  • Cardio Conditioning – Need to give the treadmill a workout to focus on my endurance and conditioning (recovery)
  • Muscle activation – Namely my butt muscles:  Time to bring out the bands and one leg exercises

I will do this program for about 4-5 weeks before starting my next phase which will most likely be circuit training for a boost in metabolism.
