Whew!
I just finished the 60 Day Nicole Wilkins Transformation Challenge and it was awesome!! Here are my Wins from this program
- Got back into a consistent weight lifting routine
- Incorporated more High Intensity Cardio into my routine such as doing the 5:30 a.m. Les Mills Sprint Class at the gym
- Started getting to the gym by 5:30 a.m.
- Upgraded my nutrition routine by eating more
- Improved my cardio conditioning
- Fit into a pair of pants COMFORTABLY that I haven’t been able to wear in 3 years and were far too tight (cutting off my circulation and not being able to breathe)
That last win is interesting because I did end up weighing myself the day after I finished the challenge out of curiosity.
I lost a grand total of….. 0.2 pounds in 5 months!!!
Yaaaasssss….but how did I only lose 0.2 pounds and my pants fit again.
Composition Change
I lost body fat and was gaining lean body mass at the same time. When Rachel Cosgrove does the Drop 2 Sizes challenge, the women lose on average 4 pounds while losing 2 Clothing sizes.
Get off the scale!
The scale is one metric of data. It isn’t ALL of the data.
This is one of the reasons people fail at their “weight loss” programs. If they don’t see the scale move, then they think it’s a fail. I just spent 60 days with this program and the scale barely moved but I ended up with all of these wins including my clothes fitting again!
Oh and One More Win…Just try it
The Master Sabotage: Scale Watching
Scale watching is one of the main way to sabotage your progress because you will never be happy with what the scale says.
If I lose 5 pounds this week, then why didn’t I lose 10?
I gained 0.5 lbs this week so my program must be a fail.
The scale isn’t moving….I’m quitting
Get off of the scale
Focus on completing the program or task at hand and while you’re doing it, count your wins. What are you learning? How are you growing?
I refused to weigh and measure myself because the growth is what I wanted to focus on.
What’s next?
I’m taking a week off to focus on recovery and tissue work.
I’m going to get a massage, work with my foam roller, trigger point balls, etc. I will also be stretching for at least 15 minutes every day. (Slow R&B for the win) I believe after an intense program our bodies need a chance to recover. Now that I am over 35, I really believe that we need to rest, recover, and rejuvenate in order to minimize the injury risk.
Nutrition Wise: I don’t diet anymore so not much will change. I may have a brownie or fro yo but maybe not. I went to the store and I had no impulse to binge on junk food because there was no restriction.
Nicole Wilkins 35 Day Muscle Up Challenge
I really liked the strength training programs so I will sign up for this next challenge!! I truly believe as a woman over 35 that (smart) Strength Training is the fountain of youth!!
Stay tuned!!
