If you’re a vegetarian, then skip over this post.
I respect everyone’s moral stands and choices on whether or not they eat meat. The author of course wants to sell books so he needed a catchy title and here we have: Eat Meat and Stop Jogging.
The purpose of this book is to counter all of the information we’ve gotten about nutrition over the past 40-50 years.
Let’s face it what the nutrition and medical industries tell us does not seem to be working. Obesity has exploded and so has chronic disease. What gives? We saw a big shift in health the 1980’s when fat was labeled as bad and the food industry started putting sugar and vegetable oil in food.
In this Book, Mike Sheridan counters conventional wisdom about saturated fat, animal protein, whole grains, etc.
If you find yourself frustrated by following the conventional healthy diet, then you may want to read this book.
“I know conventional wisdom isn’t working for you, because it’s not working for anyone! The first step to rescuing your health is understanding WHY everyone else believes and follows the nutrition and training recommendations that have unfortunately become common knowledge.” – Mike Sheridan
I will tell you first hand that I was doing everything you were supposed to do in order to lose fat last year and was getting nowhere. It wasn’t I overhauled my nutrition and followed a plan very similar to what Mike Sheridan recommended that I lost about 15 pounds.
As far as Exercise is concerned, it’s very hard to get people to understand that working out isn’t just about sweating, getting to a certain number of calories on the cardio machine, or doing long bouts of steady state cardio. It’s about building lean muscle mass, getting stronger, and maximizing your metabolism and maintaining optimal hormonal levels. This is what happens with strength training.
This is a great quick read!
