Meghan Trainor pulled the video for her song “Me Too” because she was horrified to see she had been photoshopped to appear smaller.
From USA TODAY:
When she spotted the unauthorized touch-ups, “I screamed in my hotel room,” Trainor said. “I was like, ‘Why would they do this?’ I cried. I had to try not to cry because I had my (makeup) done, and was like, ‘Don’t ruin this. Go work and ignore it,’ but I couldn’t help it. I (posted a video) on Snapchat and was like, ‘Hey, took down my video because people are still breaking me and Photoshopping me and I’m sick of it. I’m over it. I’m so done.’ “
I am so proud of her for sticking to her guns and demanding that the video be taken down because it isn’t an accurate representation of who she is. This isn’t the first time she’s been photoshopped. According to the article in USA TODAY Trainor also accused Seventeen Magazine of photoshopping her images.
When the unedited version was posted, Trainor had this to say:
“Dude, look at how bomb I look,“ Trainor said, watching the unaltered edit on an iPhone. “Why would they ever be like, ‘Let’s break her ribs!’ It’s insulting, it’s rude. Especially because I’m the only artist who talks about it.”
She’s the girl that gave us All About That Bass and the industry still doesn’t get it! She loves her curves! It’s something we need to see more of.
Thank you Meghan for celebrating who you are and not letting others define what YOUR beauty should look like!!!
