The classic self improvement book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People advises readers not to react to “not so great circumstances” with a negative attitude but rather to ask the question:
flops, waiting, and a myriad of other circumstances.
It’s all about your perspective
We can look at a setback or delay as an opportunity to grow and develop into something greater. As I learned with the fitness competition, delay is not always negative. From my perspective, it’s an opportunity to develop my body and bring the best possible package.
The Pits
Contrary to popular belief, there’s nothing wrong with going into the pits.
The pits are the place to refocus, strategize, rise up, and then decide to come back even stronger. When you’re down in the pits that is a great opportunity to realize what your priorities really are, who you really are, what you really believe, and who in your life is really here for you.
You just don’t want to build your home in the pits and stay there for the rest of your life.
